EDITORIAL DESIGN
The objective of this project was to introduce a new name, brand book, and view book for the prestigious boarding school founded in 1850 by Frederick Gunn.
This was a significant change for the school community, so we needed to make a strong impression. Our goal was to bring excitement to the new name, The Frederick Gunn School, transitioning from The Gunnery. We aimed to confidently proclaim that the beliefs of the school’s founder and its history inform its future.
In the 1800s, Mr. Gunn had a deep appreciation for the natural world, believing that through nature, students could understand themselves as humans and their place in the world. He took a principled stand against slavery and inspired students (and the town at large) to examine their beliefs. “If you’re going to change—Go bold! Go Gunn!”
