The Kohler Artist Editions™ capsule collection debuted at Milan Design Week 2023, celebrating 150 years of art and innovation. This limited edition featured Kohler products as canvases for original works by female artists worldwide, highlighted by Janet Echelman's flowing installation above the courtyard.

The challenge was to design a space that brought these individually beautiful yet disparate pieces together in a harmonious and engaging experience while respecting the fragile structure of the 17th-century Palazzo del Senato.

My solution was to design a series of illuminated, shallow pools within the courtyard: a minimally magnificent large center pool flanked by four smaller pools. The surface of the water acted as a mirror, reflecting the Artist Editions products that appeared to float. The pools also mirrored the flowing, colorful Echelman sculpture and the Palazzo itself. The result was a striking experience for viewers. The Kohler team expertly built out the design, and the results were truly magical.
